What’s on in 2019
In April 2019 the children put on a Cabaret—Shed’s Shorts—which was a delight as the children were able to choose their own form of entertainment. We were thrilled by dance, comedy and some superb singing.
This year The Theatre Shed will be performing —CapeAbility— a fully inclusive theatre piece exploring issues around mental health, self-esteem and the social educational pressures our young people face today. The ideas for the show all come directly from our young people who through the show have the opportunity to be heard. The show has already been successfully performed in collaboration with Brighton Shed at Brighton Open Air Theatre. Excerpts will be performed at the open air event at Hyde Heath School on the 23rd June and the whole show performed at The Spinney Theatre at The Beacon School (July 13th and 14th) and at The Edinburgh Fringe (August 10th and 11th). The show gives an audience an original script, original music, plenty of dance moves and above all a warm glow from having seen these amazing young people thoroughly enjoying their performances.

We will also be running a Summer Scheme in conjunction with The Beacon School for the week of the 19th August. This year’s production will be Roald Dahl’s ‘Witches’ and is open to those aged 11-18 and all members of Youth Theatre.
During the winter term we will be putting on a Community Show – open to actors of any age – so do get in touch if you would like to participate. Last year’s production of The Snow Queen was very successful.
