Mark Rann - Trustee (Events)

Mark has a diverse professional background spanning media, social housing, local government, and event management specialising in comedy, and he is deeply engaged in community service. At the onset of the pandemic, he co-founded The Big Community Take Away, a charitable initiative delivering free meals to those in need, a service that evolved into a registered charity that continues to operate.

Mark's commitment to community welfare earned him a British Empire Medal in the 2022 New Year's Honours List, recognising his exceptional contributions to the community. His pride in this recognition resonates alongside his fulfilment in supporting remarkable charities like Shed, where witnessing young individuals acquire new skills and flourish in confidence remains a profoundly rewarding experience.

Within Shed, Mark channels his efforts into generating event ideas and amplifying the organisation’s impactful work through advocacy and outreach. Through his involvement, he's gained a deeper comprehension of the challenges faced by young individuals while also grasping the complexities of supporting a smaller charitable organisation.

Motivated by a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of young people within his community, Mark finds continuous inspiration to remain engaged with Shed. He recognises the program's capacity to equip youths with vital life skills, particularly fostering the ability and confidence to communicate effectively before larger audiences.

Mark earnestly believes in the tangible impact any support directed toward The Theatre Shed can have on the lives of these young individuals, emphasising the transformative difference that can be made in shaping their futures.
