Sarah Blackman - Trustee & Mentor
Sarah has dedicated her career to caring for others, commencing her journey at Mount Vernon Hospital conducting a research project for the MRC. With a steadfast commitment, she spent 30 years in mental health before transitioning into Adult Education. Her two grown children, both avid enthusiasts of "Shed," reaped significant benefits from their involvement in the program.
In her leisure moments, Sarah finds solace in socialising with friends, diving into books, indulging in music, and honing her skills in stained glass work. As the staff liaison trustee, she actively mentors in workshops on a weekly basis, fostering profound connections with both the staff and members, often accompanied by a warm smile and some unique dance moves.
Sarah's engagement with Shed has seamlessly paved her path into the realm of Adult Education, a transition she embraces wholeheartedly, ignited by her passion for the program and its impact. Witnessing her children's contagious enthusiasm for Shed has further fuelled her commitment.
The unique atmosphere created by The Theatre Shed nurtures a sense of safety and belonging for all attendees, fostering an environment where individuals can freely express their creativity—an experience Sarah finds incomparable elsewhere. She firmly believes in the invaluable opportunity Shed provides, enabling members to cultivate self-belief and unleash their creative potential—an opportunity she deems priceless.
