Sian Britnell - Creative Manager of Children's and Company Theatre
Sian has been an integral part of The Theatre Shed for over four years, transitioning from a practitioner to assuming the roles of Sound Design and Project Management. Her journey as an experienced musician commenced at the age of 13, culminating in achieving Grade 5 standard in music. Her musical prowess extends across various instruments, with a primary focus on guitar and vocals, complemented by her involvement in the professional gigging circuit at pubs and bars.
Beyond her musical endeavours, Sian is passionate about sustainable living and gardening, a passion that birthed her vision for The Garden Shed Project. As a proud member of the LGBTQIA2s+ community, Sian finds great fulfilment in creating a safe and inclusive environment at The Theatre Shed, enabling members to express themselves freely and witness their growth, creativity, and pride in their accomplishments.
Her journey with Shed has been transformative, offering her a new realm of working specifically with individuals with learning differences or disabilities. This experience has not only honed her innate ability to support this community but also provided her with valuable skills and knowledge, marking her foray into an industry she had always aspired to join. This exposure has significantly contributed to her skill set and professional growth.
Working within a smaller charity like The Theatre Shed, Sian values the tangible impact that donations make, recognising the immediate and visible difference they bring, a gratifying aspect often overshadowed in larger charitable organisations.
