Outreach

The Theatre Shed delivers inclusive performing arts workshops in schools and community organisations. We perform at community events, celebrating the diverse talents of the people we work with to promote more inclusion in our community.

Our Projects

Sing and Sign

Using Makaton and British Sign Language to compliment singing. Songs are inspired by the ideas and interests of the children from the group. Examples of themes include birds, family, Peter Rabit, summer and emotions.

We’re currently delivering Sing and Sign at Newtown Infant School with funding from The Mulberry Trust.  .

Transitions

Working with children and young people in Chesham to support them with the transition from one school to another.

Our workshops support participants to:

  • Explore feelings about the transition

  • Developing wellbeing tools,

  • Celebrate identity & differences

  •  Build confidence through showcasing strengths and talents

Workshops take place in the feeder school during the summer term and, where possible, continue at the new school in the autumn term.

So far, we have delivered Transition projects with Ivingswood Academy, Chiltern Hills Academy, Newtown Infant School and Brushwood Junior School. Chesham Community Board, Children’s Services Grants, Opportunity Bucks, Clare Foundation and Angus Lawson Memorial Trust.

Bespoke projects

In addition to our funded projects, we offer tailored workshops for local organisations and community groups.

Themes can include:

  • Building confidence

  • Promoting inclusion

  • Healthy relationships and friendships

Each workshop and project is designed around the unique needs and interests of the groups.
